Your Dental Implant Procedure: What to Expect

Being both an active and skilled surgeon as well as someone involved in ongoing research, you can rest easy knowing that your dental implant surgery will be completed without disruption or miscalculations.

Computer-Guided Dental Implant Surgery: Better in Every Way

Dental implant surgery has come along way since its inception. And rest assured, our team has kept up with every innovation and advancement in the field. Over the last twenty years, one of the greatest advancements has been the implementation of computer-guided surgery.

This sophisticated, accessible, and incredibly accurate approach to implantology integrates all the phases of dental implant therapy. With the help of sophisticated software, we plan and prepare for every stage of the surgical process before you even sit down for surgery. This approach ensures greater accuracy, fewer sessions in the dentist's chair, and the most favorable outcomes imaginable.

As you might have guessed, few are as skilled in this approach to implant surgery as our team. As one of the first periodontists in North America to master computer-guided surgery and integrate it into their practice, Dr. Caudry and her team promise nothing but the most exceptional results.

The Benefits of Digital Dentistry

When it comes to digital implantology, there are many benefits to be had. Whether we are discussing risks, recovery periods, or placement accuracy, our approach wins every single time.

One of the most significant benefits of digital dentistry is the lack of discomfort and time devoted to the preparation and planning stages. Rather than the mess that comes with traditional dental impressions, we take intraoral scans and X-rays to create an exact image of your mouth. Gone are the days of messy, uncomfortable dental impressions. With us, you'll get a clearer picture of your mouth than ever before-literally.

Accurately Placed Dental Implants: Precision and Perfect with Dr. Caudry

Thanks to our emphasis on planning and the accuracy of our intraoral scanners, your dental implants are placed with greater efficiency than ever before. When we're overseeing your dental implant therapy, you can rest easy knowing your implant, abutment, and crown will suit your mouth to perfection.

Our commitment to perfection won't just keep your mouth healthy, either-it will make your smile look amazing. Even the most discerning eye will not be able to tell the difference between natural teeth and our implants.

An Oral Surgeon Who Promises Fewer Follow-Ups Than You're Used To

In the past, doctors used to subject patients to many appointments and just as many follow-ups. With us, there is always less time spent in the dentist's chair. We have our digital workflows to thank for these time-saving innovations, but that's not all. It is also thanks to Dr. Caudry and her commitment to excellence that really makes the difference. With us, you'll have fewer follow-ups-guaranteed. Even the planning and surgical sessions will take less time than you are used to.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants offer a durable tooth replacement solution, utilizing a titanium post to support an attached restoration. They provide natural-looking results for missing teeth caused by various issues like decay, injury, or gum disease. Unlike removable options like dentures, dental implants offer stability and reduce gum irritation, improving daily activities like eating and speaking.

The dental implantation process typically involves osseointegration, where the titanium post fuses with the jawbone, ensuring a strong and stable foundation for the restoration. Additionally, dental implants have a high satisfaction rate, making them a reliable long-term solution for tooth replacement with minimal risk of complications.

At the office of Dr. Suzanne Caudry, we develop custom-made dental implants for each patient that fuse permanently with the jawbone for long-lasting results. If you feel that dental implants are for you or what you need, we would love to help you through that decision process.

Our Dental Implant Procedure

Our dental implant surgery process is relatively straightforward, making it a quick and stress-free experience for you.

Here is what the treatment looks like:

Initial Consultation: During this appointment, your oral health will be assessed, including your medical history and a review of X-rays or 3D scans to evaluate bone density and structure.

Pre-operative Dental Implant Appointment: In this appointment, we employ advanced technology: a Primescan intraoral scanner captures a virtual dental model of your gums and teeth, while our three-dimensional CBCT bone scanner generates a comprehensive digital image of your mouth, teeth, and jaw.

Implant Placement: On surgery day, you will be given local anesthesia to numb the area prior to beginning the procedure.

Osseointegration: Over the next several weeks to months post-procedure, the implant undergoes osseointegration, a crucial process for ensuring implant stability, while you may receive a temporary crown or bridge to preserve aesthetics and function.

Abutment Placement: Once the bone and implant have fused (osseointegration), a follow-up procedure may be necessary to attach an abutment, which connects the implant to the artificial tooth.

Prosthetic Integration and Adjustment: After the abutment heals, impressions are taken to create a custom prosthetic tooth (crown, bridge, or denture). The tooth is then attached to the abutment, and necessary adjustments will be made for a comfortable and functional fit.

Are You a Candidate for a Dental Implant Treatment?

If you can say yes to one or both of the following characteristics, you are a good candidate for dental implant surgery.

Replacing a Missing Tooth: Dental implants are the recommended solution for single-tooth or multiple missing tooth replacement, providing advantages like preventing bone loss and ensuring a comfortable, durable fit.

You Have Healthy Gums and Bone: Good gum and bone health is crucial before and during the long-term use of dental implants.

To receive a definitive answer as to whether you are a qualified candidate for dental implant surgery, we will conduct an assessment of your overall oral health. Schedule a consultation with our experienced dental team to explore your options and achieve a healthier, more confident smile.
